ANOTHER LION

Since he was busy with a washday miracle
St. Gerasmus deputized his lion and sent him
To the Fourth Ecumenical Council
In
Chalcedon. His letters to the saint
Would constitute a historical resource
Of almost incalculable value
Had they not been carelessly misplaced
During the Great Clean Up of 739.
Rumors persist that he and Jerome's lion
Threatened to eat several small bishops
After too much wine and an argument
Over the consubstantiality of the Holy Ghost.
